Wearing: dandelion & oxfords

IMG_1953 I wasn’t sure I’d ever do an outfit post again.  But then I put on this dress, and the rest is history.

I don’t even know how I was first introduced to this girly, timeless brand, but I’ve loyally followed along on Instagram and admired the dresses of Christy Dawn on babes I love like Langley Fox & Amanda Booth.  When they alerted me the Alex Dress was back, I rushed to the computer.  I decided I needed to be a Friend of Dawn too.

And so I ordered my dress in Dandelion and went on with my day.  But once it arrived, I was so tickled by the delicacy of the dress and the fashion in which it arrived.  I am of the belief that we’re living in a time where certain brands offer such craftsmanship and creativity in their products.  Small businesses thrive because people want something special, something great.  I’m drawn to big little brands like Stone Cold Fox, Christy Dawn, Bona Drag, and even smaller shops on Etsy, all catering to a consumer that loves fine things and appreciate the details.  I’m also huge on specialized packaging, so Christy Dawn officially has my heart.  My Alex dress arrived in a cedar box [that I’ll be keeping as a relic holder] wrapped warm in tissue and topped with a fresh bundle of lavender.  Staying true to their word, Christy Dawn delivers a truly beautiful online shopping experience.

With all of the artistry and craftsmanship stitched into the fabric of our dresses, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t have a presentation to match.”

Its true.  I’m smitten with Christy Dawn.  If you’re a connoisseur of beautifully crafted dresses in soft silks and girly prints and love a brand that has so much pride in what they make and who wears it, I encourage you to see for yourself.  Oh, and I can’t wait to see their bridal line coming soon

P.S. One of my favorite people created these Oxfords when he used to have a brand called Dixon.  Backed by popular demand, I’d love to see him dust off his cobbler hat and start making these beauties again.  You’ll be the first to know if he does!  xo

This was such a fun shoot.  Not only did my fab friend Blair do me up & make me feel pretty, but she made me laugh the entire time we took photos.  I’m already awkward as it is, so the last thing I needed was passing cars honking while I’m making an idiot of myself on the 101.  The photos were worth it, I guess.  And I love this top from H&M – I saw it hanging and knew I had to have it.  There’s something about a boxy blouse with stripes and big pockets.  I’m all about the masculine look with a little leg to make you feel girly.

Happy Wednesday!

You know you love something – really love something – when you fall head over heels, admit it might be lust, sleep on it (for at least two days) and yet still have to have it.  From the second I saw this dress, (and its price tag), I was in love.  I’ve only just recently become acquainted with the new clothing line JOA, headquartered in LA, but I’m loving everything I see.  I was able to come face-to-face with the garment upon returning clothes from a recent pull I’d done at Swirl Boutique in Encinitas, and knew I had to have it.  In my mind its the perfect dress: structured and girly yet simple and comfortable.  You don’t have to do too much to fancy it up either because it’s already fab from the floral cutouts to the neon pink zipper back.  I should also note that I’m slightly obsessed with these Joié sandals, that happen to be the most comfortable heels I’ve worn in ages.  I’m convinced I’ll be living in them the rest of the summer.  xx!

I look at Stone Cold Fox pieces as collectibles; investments for the average girl in her 20’s.  They’ll never go out of style and they’re so versatile, every girl should have at least one (at any age).  I love this dress because its comfortable and girly, and I can dress it up or down (I threw on a loose cream knit sweater later that night).  I’m also shorter than the average gal so it’s not as easy for me to rock untailored garments with anything other than tall wedges, typically.  Thank you Jeffrey Campbell.  I can tell you I’ll prob be living in this dress all summer.  P.S. SCF has flash sales on select items announced via Instagram (like right now).

I’ve been on a long outfit post hiatus, but I’m back in daisies.  We’ve missed you.  And I’ve totally had a thing for tying things around my waist lately.  It’s especially convenient when it’s really windy and you’re wearing a short skirt.  Lovely basking in the sun with you, Alie Walencikowski (photos by).
